Peculiar week-end for Giovanni Venturini in Imola. During 24th and 25th September for the penultimate round of Italian GT Championship, the Vicentinian based had to run alone due a physical problem to his teammate Stefano Pezzucchi. During a mixed conditions Friday free practice between rain and dry track, Giovanni left Stefano driver most of the time, but was anyway able to set the 5th fastest lap time during qualifying. As Pezzucchi wasn’t able to join races, Giovanni had to drove alone, with a 60 seconds penalty added to his race time, as agreed with the sportive regulations.

“Drive a GT car alone during a race was like to come back at the open wheels time. I’m really sorry for Stefano, but I hope he could recover soon and be back with us for the final round in Mugello. Even if I hadn’t references from free practices, in official practice I made a good lap, but when I was improving for front row, we went out of fuel. Notwithstanding a mistake in the early laps of race-1, I recover until sixth final place, but with a minute penalty everything was useless. In second race I started fifth but when I was battling for second place, Albuquerque pushed me out in the first lap. Restarted from the end of the field, I re-join until 5th position under the chequered flag, but with the penalty I had to come back without points”.
