Summer break is over and Giovanni Venturini came back at the wheel of Lamborghini Huracan GT3 for Imperiale Racing in GT Open. The 2017 reigning Champion of the series was sharing the wheel with regular teammate Jeroen Mul, achieving two second places in both races. Total runner-up positions in the championship so far are six, on ten races, and the Italian-Dutch duo is back in the title contenders’ fight. In the cockpit during Saturday’s Q1, Venturini set fourth fastest time. Started from the second row, the Italian driver left the wheel to Mul, who close the gap until the last lap to the leading Ferrari under the chequered flag. With Jeroen third in Qualifying 2 Sunday morning, Giovanni took the seat at the driver change being the fastest driver on track in his stint, closing the gap with the two leading Mercedes, and crossing the finish-line second, first in Pro category and closing the gap with the championship leader. Venturini has now 72 points and is third in the standings, overtaking Alessandro Pierguidi and 14 points behind Mikkel Mac. Next round, scheduled in Monza for September 23rd, will be home race for Giovanni, Imperiale Racing and Lamborghini Squadra Corse.

Giovanni Venturini
“Two podiums are a great result on this track, where weren’t sure on our competitiveness level. This means obviously that in Monza, we’ll have more handicap, but at least we leave the UK with third place in the standings and some good points. After Budapest, we are lost but now we’re back in the game, looking to a track where, in 2018 we made a podium we started our final rush for the title crown. For sure me, Jeroen, Imperiale and Lamborghini are very motivated for our home race”.
